Auto Insurance
Liability
The law requires you to have the minimum limits of liability available in your state. Liability coverage will cover damages caused by you to another person or another person's property. It is important to have liability coverage to protect your assets because it will cover your expenses up to the policy limit, should you be at fault in an accident. There are three sections to your liability coverage.
Bodily Injury — If you injure someone or cause someone's death as a result of an automobile accident, this coverage will pay for claims up to the limit you selected.
Property Damage — If you are at fault in an accident, this part of the liability coverage will cover damage you cause to another vehicle or another person's property up to the limit you selected.
Medical Payments — If you are involved in an automobile accident, regardless of fault, this coverage covers medical and funeral expenses for you and others in the vehicle. In addition, it covers you and those listed on your policy, if struck by a car as a pedestrian.
Your professional ABC Agent will go over your options with you when you call or come into the office.
Comprehensive and Collision (Physical Damage)
The comprehensive and Collision part of your policy, covers damages to your vehicle or a vehicle you are operating with permission, up to the selected policy limit.
Collision — If you are involved in an accident and there is damage to your vehicle, you are covered under this part of the policy, regardless of fault. A deductible is attached to this coverage. If you are in an accident and file a claim under the collision part of your policy, you will be responsible for the deductible listed. Your professional ABC Agent will go over your options with you when you call or come into the office.
Comprehensive — Comprehensive coverage will cover you when you damage your car and your loss does not fall under collision coverage. Comprehensive coverage covers you for things such as hitting an animal, fire, vandalism, theft, glass brakeage and flood. Your professional ABC Agent will go over your options with you when you call or come into the office.
Uninsured Motorists
Uninsured motorist coverage covers you for a variety of things if you are involved in an accident where the other person does not have insurance or you are involved in a hit and run accident. This is a very important coverage to have, but it is elective. The great thing about uninsured motorist is that it covers you for medical related costs, an amount for lost wages, and other related expenses. Your professional ABC Agent will go over your options with you when you call or come into the office.
Underinsured Motorists
Just as there are people who do not have insurance, there are those that do not have enough insurance. When this happens, this coverage is what you want to have. It will cover expenses for medical and death when the other party does not have enough coverage.
Choosing a Deductible
If you are leasing or financing your vehicle, you will be responsible for the deductible before your insurance company will pay your qualified claim under comprehensive and collision coverages. In addition, there is a $250 deductible for uninsured motorist claims. If you choose a high deductible, your payments will be lower. Your professional ABC Agent will go over your options with you when you call or come into the office.
Personal Injury Protection
This coverage is optional. This coverage pays for medical expenses and 80% of lost income, regardless of who is at fault in the accident. The great thing about this coverage is that it also covers for services that you are unable to perform because of the auto accident. You, your family members, and your injured passengers are covered under the PIP coverage. Your professional ABC Agent will go over your options with you when you call or come into the office.
Medical Protection
This coverage is optional. Coverage pays for medical expenses in an accident, regardless of fault. This coverage does not cover lost income.
Rental Reimbursement
Should you have a covered loss, this coverage will allow you to rent a substitute vehicle while yours is being repaired up to the policy limits selected. Your professional ABC Agent will go over your options with you when you call or come into the office.
